Internet Explorer setup on Windows

The following steps are required to set up Internet Explorer 5+ on Windows. You may wish to print these guidelines before you start to make any changes. Note that Internet Explorer is set up differently on Windows and Apple Macintosh. Please use these instructions for Internet Explorer on Apple Macintosh.

Start Internet Explorer and follow the 3 steps below. The pictures are correspondingly numbered and should assist you to identify each action required.

  1. On the menu bar of Internet Explorer click View > Text Size > Medium (if required, this site can be viewed at other text sizes to suit viewer preferences)
  1. On the menu bar of Internet Explorer click Tools > Internet Options > Security tab. For the internet zone, move the slider to set the security level to Medium. (If the slider is not visible, press the Default Level button to make it appear.)

  1. For Internet Explorer 6+, click the Privacy tab and move the slider to set the privacy level to Medium. (If the slider is not visible, press the Default Level button to make it appear.)

Click OK to save these settings. You have now finished setting up Internet Explorer.

Note on pop-up windows

Perdisco does not use automatic pop-up windows. However, some of our e-learning and e-commerce functionality uses pop-up windows when you directly request those functions. If you use pop-up supression software it can interfer with this functionality.

To test whether our e-learning and e-commerce pop-up windows will work on your computer try using this pop-up window test. If a pop-up window does not immediately appear then you must have pop-up supression activated.

There are many different pop-up supression products so we can not provide you with specific details about how to configure any particular pop-up supression software that is on your computer. If the pop-up window test did not work on your computer, please follow the instructions provided with your pop-up supression software to enable pop-up windows to work with our website.
